Thanks to a culture that applauds youthful skin, people try to avoid aging. I know this isn’t possible, unless you have access to an armory of good skincare products and possibly a plastic surgeon, too. I am naturally fair skinned, and I freckle easily. I have to be really cautious in the summer. One day without sunscreen and I have three new freckles.
So here are three tips that work for me and my dry skin:
- Sunscreen: I have a few types of sunscreen I use on rotation, or if I can’t find the other kinds. Coola SPF for the face is a trusted brand I use. It is moisturizing without being heavy, and protects your skin without leaving a greasy residue. It is made with good ingredients, and is cruelty free.
2. I recently bought the trio of serums from Glossier . I am a huge fan of their cleanser and moon mask. The one I have used the most so far is the Super Bounce Serum. It is the serum that promises moisture and supple skin. After I clean my face in the morning, I take a full eye dropper of the serum and put it on my T-zone, and cheeks. Then I put on my sunscreen once it dries, and continue with my makeup routine. It is a great daytime moisturizer, and it absorbs very quickly into your skin. Hyaluronic acid makes your skin retain moisture, and the vitamin B brings back your skin’s elasticity.
2. A durable concealer stick is really all you need in the summer. I swipe this Tarte clay concealer on bags under my eyes. It is waterproof, and stays on all day. With a spritz of rose aloe facial spray from Mario Badescu, I prime my face before putting the concealer on. Then I do another spritz after the concealer dries, to set it.
3. Drink a lot of water. It is hard to remember to have a water bottle on you at all times, so my trick is to have at least three water bottles, that I scatter around my room. I have Swell water bottle , an empty bottle of peach ice tea that I refill with cold water, and a Klean Kanteen . If you’re ambitious, put some cucumber and mint in one of the water bottles. This helps with hydration and helping you stay cool in hot weather.
